When I started my brand a decade ago, I always knew I wanted to amplify what creatives do so they can thrive. In 2017, while doing a creative entrepreneurship course at the GoDown Arts Centre, I wrote this as part of my profile: 👉🏾https://lnkd.in/dEEZu-j6 Back then, I didn’t know I’d one day call the video games industry home, but you can already see little traces of my love for games in that mission statement. Today, my brand is a registered business. At WAI Network, we tell stories through articles and animations to bridge the information gap so creative tech businesses, like game studios, animators, and immersive media creators, can continue thriving. Thanks to WAI Network’s role as a Media Partner for Africacomicade’s Gamathon Kenya, more than 20 creatives from our industry have been featured in both local and international media platforms. 💡 This experience showed me that my role goes beyond just writing articles. I’ve found new ways to offer value by linking our industry to the media. Before the Gamathon Kenya edition began, Michael Oscar Esio and Nimat Asunogie talked about the event on Channel Africa Radio and Daniel Macharia got a TV interview on KTN News through a connection I made. After the Gamathon, James Ahere, Evans kiragu, Munga Fredrick, and Joanna Oluoch were featured in the Daily Nation 👇🏾 📰 https://lnkd.in/dpGDjh6K We also had honorary mentions of Pam M. from HEVA Fund Kennedy Kyalo and Dean Gichukie from Kunta Content Brian Diang'a Ruth Nduta from Africa HackNest Jay Shapiro 🌍 🎮 🚀and Wesley Kanyeria from Usiku Games Brian Afande and Jabez Mutoria King'ori from BlackRhino VR Faith Benson from Africacomicade Douglas Ogeto from LudiqueWorks Works Naddya Adhiambo Oluoch-Olunya's Nalo Studios, Max Musau's Jiwe Studios Thayù kilili's Creatives Garage and Ian Okinda's Urban Gurus and others across platforms like Kenya Vibe, Isakaba, and PreMortem Games: 📝 Kenya Vibe: https://lnkd.in/dSCMFeUv 📝 IsaKaba: https://lnkd.in/di6MEiHz 📝 PreMortem Games: https://lnkd.in/dEFGYBqn 🎙️ Lastly, Oscar generously shared his journey on our podcast Creative Tech Convos, where you get to hear how Africacomicade and the Gamathon came to be: https://lnkd.in/dp3jwwiU We are still in communication with some more media outlets. So the journey continues. To Africacomicade, thank you! If it weren’t for the work you do for this industry and for hosting the Gamathon in Kenya, none of this would have happened. You are truly a launchpad for African digital creatives and the people who champion them. Gamathon Ghana, South Africa, and Nigeria await you. We’re cheering you on every step of the way! ✨ Nigeria, you’ve got a gem in Africacomicade. Take good care of it. 💎

With The Darkest Files, Berlin-based indie studio Paintbucket Games has crafted a gripping, meticulously researched narrative game that delves into the legal and moral aftermath of World War II. Co-founders Jörg S. Friedrich and Sebastian Schulz: “This story deserves to be told and we saw an opportunity to bring it to audiences who might never encounter it otherwise.” https://lnkd.in/dBSKV__3 #gamesindustry #indiegame #gamedev #indiedev #gamedesign

Barcelona-based indie studio Gatera Studio explains that the goal for their upcoming debut game ANTRO was to bring urban underground culture to gaming. Programmer Rodrigo De Pedro: "That led us to bet on rap music, graffiti-like visuals and a storyline that a young, street-wise audience could resonate with.” #gamesindustry #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #gamedesign

You may know Luke Muscat as the creator of mobile mega hits like Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride, but after leading teams in three companies for the last decade he felt his personal growth stagnating. He decided to solo develop his next game. “I love the speed and dynamism of the work. You can totally pivot anything at any time and make snap decisions." #gamesindustry #indiegame #gamedev #gamedsign #solodev #indiedev

Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori by German developer Aesir Interactive GmbH reached its Kickstarter goal in just 19 hours. In an earlier piece we wrote about the game (back in June 2024) Horse Realism Consultant (great title, right?) Alice Ruppert said: “We hope to break out of the 'horse game' bubble and provide an experience that appeals to a wider audience of players.” #gamesindustry #indiegame #gamedev #indiedev #gamedesign #kickstarter
